Our Scientific Advisory Board


PathoQuest is guided by a Scientific Advisory Board which consists of recognized experts in the fields of infectious diseases, microbiology and molecular diagnostics. The objective of this group is to assist PathoQuest to prioritize its R&D efforts and to help guide the company during the implementation of its clinical development strategy.

Marc Eloit, DVM, PhD

Professor Eloit is the Founder of PathoQuest. He is Professor of Virology and the former head of the Virology Unit at the Veterinary School of Maisons-Alfort. He joined Institut Pasteur in 2008 to develop a program of Pathogen Discovery based on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). He has been a member of the Virus Safety group for the last 20 years at the French National  Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products. Professor Eloit is an author for over 120 peer-reviewed publications.

Frederic Laurent, PharmD, PhD

Dr. Frédéric Laurent is Professor of Microbiology at Hospices Civils de Lyon, France and Institute for Pharmaceuticals and Biological Sciences, Lyon, France. He is Head of the Clinical Bacteriology Department for Northern Hospital and of the Institute for Infectious Agents at Hospices Civils de Lyon. He serves as a co-Director of the French National Reference Center for Staphylocci. Professor Laurent is a member of the ESCMID Scientific Affairs Subcommittee / AMR and Susceptibility Testing and the Secretary of the ESCMID Epidemiological Markers Study Group. Professor Laurent is an author for over 250 peer-reviewed publications.

Olivier Lortholary, MD, PhD

Dr. Lortholary is Professor and Chair of the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades, Paris, France. He serves as Deputy Director for the French National Reference Center for Mycoses and Antifungals and as co-Director for the International Postgraduate School of Medical Mycology at Institut Pasteur, Paris, France. He is a member of ESCMID and IDSA, and is an author of over 400 peer-reviewed publications.


Robin Patel, MD, D(ABMM), FIDSA, F(AAM)


Dr. Patel is the Chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA and a consultant in the Division of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. She is Professor of Microbiology and Médicine and Elisabeth and Robert Allen Professor of Individualized Medicine, Mayo Clinic. Robin Patel is associate editor of the Journal of the Clinical Microbiology and Clinical Infectious Diseases, a member of the Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group. Dr Patel is a member of the American Society for Microbiology Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the ASM Microbe 2018. She is an author for over 250 peer-reviewed publications.


Etienne Ruppé, PharmD, PhD


Dr.  Ruppé serves as an Assistant Professor at Hôpital Bichat, Paris, France. His research interests are : the epidemiology of carriage of multidrug resistant bacteria, the resistome of the human gut microbiota and clinical metagenomics. Dr Ruppé co-founded and co-organises the International Conference on Clinical Metagenomics. He is an author for over 60 peer-viewed publications.
